Suzanne Collins Review of THE HUNGER GAMES Movie!

Suzanne Collins posted this review of the upcoming HUNGER GAMES movie (based on her bestselling novel of the same title) on her facebook page:

Dear Readers,

I’ve just had the opportunity to see the finished film of The Hunger Games. I’m really happy with how it turned out. I feel like the book and the film are individual yet complementary pieces that enhance one another. The film opens up the world beyond Katniss’ point of view, allowing the audience access to the happenings of places… like the Hunger Games control room and President Snow’s rose garden, thereby adding a new dimension to the story.

Director Gary Ross has created an adaptation that is faithful in both narrative and theme, but he’s also brought a rich and powerful vision of Panem, its brutality and excesses, to the film as well. His world building’s fantastic, whether it be the Seam or the Capitol. It’s amazing to see things that are suggested in the book fully developed and so brilliantly realized through the artistry of the designers.

And, my God, the actors. The cast, led by the extraordinary Jennifer Lawrence, is absolutely wonderful across the board. It’s such a pleasure to see how they’ve embodied the characters and brought them to life.

So I’d like to sincerely thank all the many people who devoted their time and talents to the film, especially producers Nina Jacobson and Jon Kilik, and the excellent teams at Color Force, Larger Than Life, and Lionsgate.

I hope you enjoy the film!

Suzanne Collins

The Official Hunger Games Movie Trailer

The first sneak peak into the Hunger Games trailer was released this Sunday at MTV's Video Music Awards. Even though the trailer was short, it managed to reignite my interest in the movie. I CAN NOT wait to see the movie in March. I have a feeling that it's going to be amazing!

What did you think of the trailer?

Hunger Games Update: Katniss

Today I found out who is casted for Katniss in the Hunger Games movie. I’d be completely lying if I said I wasn’t a little disappointed to see who they chose. It was announced on March 16th that actress Jennifer Lawrence will be playing the role of Katniss Everdeen. (Yeah, I’m a little late on getting the news…)

The main reason why I was disappointed was because of her age. Jennifer is 20 and in the Hunger Games Katniss is only supposed to be 16. I mean, I know Hollywood can work wonders with makeup and costume, but still I can’t imagine Jennifer Lawrence as our 16 yr-old Katniss.

I have high hopes for this movie because I loved the book so much. I’m just hoping that I’ll be surprised and actually end up liking it. I mean, some of the Harry Potter movies weren’t so bad about sticking to the plot, but I still ended up saying “that’s not supposed to happen that way!” practically the whole movie anyhow. The only book-turned-movies I’ve watched that stuck entirely to the plot are from BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation).

What do you think of the casting of Hunger Games so far? Have you heard any rumors about who’s getting the other lead roles?

Mockingjay-Fever!

I, among many other people, am excited for the release of Mockingjay tomorrow on the 24th. I have been a big fan since it first came out with The Hunger Games, and was even more enthralled about the series after reading Catching Fire. After all the cliffhangerism in Catching Fire it’s kind of hard not to want to read it as soon as I possibly can!

Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has survived the Hunger Games twice. But now that she’s made it out of the bloody arena alive, she’s still not safe. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge. Who do they think should pay for the unrest? Katniss. And what’s worse, President Snow has made it clear that no one else is safe either. Not Katniss’s family, not her friends, not the people of District 12. Powerful and haunting, this thrilling final installment of Suzanne Collins’s groundbreaking The Hunger Games trilogy promises to be one of the most talked about books of the year.

So, any ideas/guesses of what you think is going to happen next???
